This daylong workshop will review basic group counseling theory with special attention to the curative factors of group and the stages of group development.  We will address the importance of developing and implementing group guidelines and facilitating the adoption of group norms.   You will also learn about the importance of attachment styles in group development. And we will look at implementing three different counseling techniques for working with substance abuse in groups; including motivational interviewing, 12-step facilitation and cognitive behavioral therapy.
