The Emergency department can be an entry point for treatment, a safety net, or a place to obtain drugs. This half-day program will extend the conversation presented in the preceding webinar about ways the ED can be part of solution. Dr. Wolak will briefly review complex presentations of withdrawal, pain verses drug seeking behaviors, and ways to limit substance misuse. The major focus of this program will be assessing and addressing chronic and acute suicidal ideation that frequently accompanies substance use disorder. Case studies will engage the participants in the discussion.
