“The combination of body work and psychological work is . . . the new therapy.”, William Schutz in American Counseling Association Journal. Embody & Enliven the therapy process with insights and methods from bioenergetics. In this experiential workshop, we will explore the place of “body language,” breath, energy and movement in the therapy process, as developed in bioenergetics and other body psychotherapies. Bioenergetics, developed by Alexander Lowen from the work of Wilhelm Reich, emphasizes the release of chronic physical and emotional tension through breathing, physical positions, movement, and sound, as well as traditional therapeutic methods. We will do a set of bioenergetic exercises and breath work to understand the dynamics of the process, which will lead into the work of applying it in one's practice.
